Celebrates Our New Beginnings at 2025 President’s Dinner
The Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset ushered in the new Rotary year with a memorable and inspiring President’s Dinner on the evening of July 2, 2025. Held at the elegant Vancouver Airport Marriott Hotel, the event was a resounding success, bringing together 61 members and distinguished guests to celebrate the achievements of the past year and welcome the new leadership for 2025-2026.
The fellowship was strengthened by the presence of guests from numerous Rotary clubs, including the Richmond Club, Vancouver Centennial Club, Vancouver Arbutus Club, and visiting Rotarians from the Hong Kong Kowloon Club, Hong Kong Happy Valley Club, and the Taipei An Tung Club. The attendance of dedicated Rotaract members also highlighted the vibrant spirit of the next generation of Rotary. We also have volunteers attending this evening, thanks for their help and support.
The evening, masterfully hosted by Past President Ms. Magdalen Leung, was filled with moments of reflection, celebration, and forward-looking vision. The proceedings began with warm greetings from esteemed guests, including a heartfelt address from Richmond Mayor and Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset, Mr. Malcolm Brodie. His words were followed by inspiring messages from P.D.G. Chris Offer and D.G.E. Dean Hsieh, who shared their insights and encouragement for the year ahead.
A highlight of the evening was the thoughtful recap of the 2024-2025 Rotary Year presented by Immediate Past President (I.P.P.) Jim Ling. His impressive photo review captured the club's many accomplishments and cherished moments, drawing warm applause from all in attendance.
Marking the official transition, P.D.G. Chris Offer and P.D.G. Penny Offer led the installation ceremony for the new 2025-2026 Board of Directors, a team poised to continue the club's legacy of service.
The club was also thrilled to formally welcome three new members(Mimi Hui, Martin Li and Erin Lee) into the Rotary family, a testament to its continued growth and appeal. In a special moment of recognition, I.P.P. Jim Ling had the honour of presenting a Paul Harris Fellow recognition to Joanna Ko, celebrating her outstanding contributions and commitment to the ideals of Rotary.
Looking to the future, the newly installed Co-Presidents for the 2025-2026 Rotary Year, Jackie Lau and David Ip, took the stage together. They shared their inspiring joint vision for the upcoming year, outlining their goals and energizing the club for the journey ahead.
The Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset extends its sincerest gratitude to all guests, members, and friends who made the 2025 President's Dinner an unforgettable celebration. We look forward to a productive and impactful year of "Service Above Self."
